BRUNSWICK, Maine (AP) — Hurricane Irene is still hours away from arriving in Maine, but it’s already wreaking havoc on plans for outdoor events around the state.

In Bangor, the final day of the American Folk Festival on Sunday is being canceled altogether amid concerns about strong winds at the site along the Penobscot River. Also, Sunday’s opening of the Windsor Fair was delayed until Monday afternoon, said Tom Foster, the event’s president.

In Brunswick, where tens of thousands are attending the Great State of Maine Air Show, organizers decided Saturday to cancel Sunday’s show.
